1928 Ford Model A – Meningie 22 October 2023 – Bay to Birdwood 2023 participant

Day 1

Meningie was farewelled on Sunday with the weather cold, windy and bleak.

Edginton - Kingston bound to visit a rellie.  John managed to snap a photo of the above beauty.  Much oohing and ahhing by all who beheld.

Browning - An overnighter at Robe.  Robe seemed deserted when we arrived as normally the main precinct is teeming with visitors.  Great beaches.

Wall - Lazing at Meningie – come on guys get a move on!!!

Day 2 & 3 - Beachport

Day 3 (0700 hours) it is perfect.  No wind, a hint of blue sky and minimal cloud coverage.  Not so during the early hours with what seemed like 70+ gale force winds.  We stayed at the Southern Ocean Tourist Park – large lawn sites with a camp kitchen designed for clubs, with pizza oven, hot plates, oven etc and seating for large groups.  Patio area set up for happy hour to watch the sunset.

Beachport provided lots of surprises - we even met Trevor’s twin!

Wall – At Cape Jaffa probably scoffing crayfish.  In reality, worse - home cooked roast dinner with the trimmings.  Seems like Cape Jaffa also copped mega winds.  Trevor and Corrine’s van took a pummelling but they safely joined us at Beachport.  Tea at the pub and then onto Mount Gambier Wednesday.

Days 4 – Mount Gambier bound.  The road was a shocker.  Lots of roadworks and potholes that could swallow an unsuspecting caravaner’s wheel.  John & Jenny were alerted to a tyre problem by vigilant roadworkers.  Trevor W lent a hand and John sourced expert assistance from Bridgestone’s.   Caravan Park excellent with all grassed drive through sites.  Happy Hour blighted by a nightly “beat the shark” quiz.
